Syracuse continued its climb up the CHA standings with another dominant performance against a conference foe.

The Orange (9-10-5, 8-2-2 College Hockey America) defeated Lindenwood (5-16-2, 3-8-1) 3-0 this afternoon in St. Charles, Missouri, outshooting the Lions 35-13.

The Orange peppered Lindenwood with shots and shot attempts but neither team could find the back of net in the first two periods.

Syracuse opened the scoring 1:31 into the third period on a goal by Emily Costales. Midway through the period, two more goals, 1:03 apart, by Heather Schwarz and Dakota Derrer put the game out of reach.

Syracuse had 67 shot attempts to Lindenwood’s 26 and the Lions kept themselves in the game with 23 blocked shots.

While Lindenwood only had 13 shots, the team was still able to reward itself with two power-play opportunities, but went 0-2. The Orange went 0-3 on the power plays.

With its fourth win in a row, Syracuse is in second place in the CHA standings and within a game of tying conference leader Robert Morris (16-2-6, 9-1-2) for first place. In its last four games, Syracuse has outscored its opponents 15-2.

Syracuse plays two games against Robert Morris next weekend beginning next Friday at 7 P.M. at Tennity Ice Pavilion.
