Syracuse just couldn't do enough as the Wolfpack responded to every punch the Orange threw.

Syracuse (13-8, 1-2 Atlantic Coast) fell to North Carolina State (8-16, 2-1), 8-7, in its final day in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Orange finished 1-2 on the weekend.

After an NCAA record-tying four home runs Friday, Sydney O’Hara opened the scoring with her sixth blast of the year. A few batters later, Faith Cain sent a ball over the left field wall to put Syracuse up 3-1.

But the Orange lead did not last. Alexa Romero started the game and allowed three earned runs in three innings of work. O’Hara relieved Romero and gave up four earned runs in 3 2-3 innings of work.

After a three-run sixth inning, Hannah Dossett hit a sacrifice fly to right field, tying the game in the seventh. But an RBI double from the Wolfpack in the bottom of the seventh sealed Syracuse’s fate.

Syracuse travels to Boiling Springs, North Carolina, to play Gardner-Webb in a double-header on Tuesday night. First pitch slated at 4 p.m.
